Looking For Some Adventure?

If you are looking for a little adventure in Shelby County this weekend you don't have far to go. Oak Mountain State Park is located in Pelham, but it's only a short drive from Alabaster, Helena, Calera, Montevallo, Columbiana, and almost anywhere in Shelby County.

The Park is one of the most popular State Parks in Alabama and offers a wide variety of activities and attractions sure to please every member of the family. Bring a tent, a camper, or rent a cabin and be prepared to have a great time full of rest and relaxation.

For people who can't sit still, dust off the golf clubs, put some air in the bike tires, or get some dirt on those new hiking shoes. The golf course is one of the best in the area, so be sure to call ahead and get a tee time (205.620.2520). There are bike trails that offer some challenging paths through the woods, but watch out for Blood Rock. It earned it's name fair and square. The BMX track is sure to satisfy the competitor in you.

If you want something a little less physical, there are 2 lakes that are stocked with fish just waiting to be caught. Be sure you have a valid Alabama fishing license to keep the Park Ranger happy. There are also picnic tables by the lake so that you can enjoy the view as well as a picnic lunch.

If you want to go to the beach, but just can't make it to the Gulf, you can enjoy the beach at Oak Mountain State Park. You can get sand between your toes and take a swim right here in Pelham. Don't forget the suntan lotion though. The Alabama sun wil burn you just like the Florida sun does.

If you are hard to please and still haven't found anything that interests you, maybe you can try the Petting/Exhibit Farm, Horseback riding, or take a drive up to Pevine falls and just enjoy the sunset. Visit their website at here or call 1-800-ALAPARK. You won't be sorry.
